Aside from causing damage and dandruff, getting soaked in acidic rain can also cause damage. The good news is that you can stop hair loss problems by making a few simple lifestyle changes

Although monsoons in India bring about an air of refreshment and relief from the scorching heat, many complain of several health issues. Excess hair fall is one of them. An increase in humidity in the air may lead to frizziness and weaken hair strands, it can also be due to several other factors. Excessive stress, hormonal imbalances and other factors can also be the cause of hair loss. Getting drenched in rainwater, which is acidic, can also lead to damage, and dandruff.

Well, the good news here is, that you can combat hair fall issues with just a few alterations in your lifestyle. Popular celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar shared that Methi dana, Aliv seeds, pumpkin seeds and walnuts are some of the food items that can be added to the diet for improvement.

Ayurveda expert Dr Nitika Kohli also took to her Instagram handle and suggested a few more ways to prevent excessive hair fall during the monsoon. Take a look:

Oil your hair before you shampoo: While oiling your hair might be cumbersome, research suggests that oiling your scalp with a lightweight oil such as rosehip or almond could work wonders for new hair growth. Remember to slightly warm your hands while massaging them into your scalp. Let it remain for 30 mins to an hour and then shampoo with a gentle product. This process will ensure less breakage during hair washes and a cleaner scalp.

Quit smoking cigarettes and alcohol: Research suggests that nicotine present in cigarettes can negatively impact the growth of hair follicles and thus, contribute to more hair fall. To reverse the effects, ensure that you give up these habits soon.

Use a hibiscus mask for hair loss: According to Dr Kohli, applying a hibiscus mask on your scalp can help prevent hair fall to a large extent. To prepare this pack at home, crush hibiscus flowers and a handful of leaves together in a grinder. To the mixture, add a few spoons of yoghurt. Let the pack sit on your head for about 30 minutes and then wash off.
