This year's Tour de France 2017 kicks off once again this weekend, and to help you follow the world's greatest cycling event from start to finish we've rounded up a list of Twitter accounts and social media sites to help you stay up to date with all the details.

The 104th Tour de France starts this year in Dusseldorf, Germany, on July 1 and finishes, as is tradition, on the Champs-Elysees in Paris on July 23.

Fans should be sure to follow the main account for the event, @letour, to keep up with every moment from the event, and activate notifications on your smartphone to ensure you don't miss a tweet.

Other official accounts include @letour_de in Germany, @letour_uk in the UK, @letour_es in Spain and @letour_col in Colombia.

If you want to join in the conversation yourself or tweet your own photos from the race you can use the official event hashtag #TDF2017.

To follow the race live minute by minute, follow the official voice of the Tour de France 2016, Radio Tour, in both French @radiotour_fr and English @radiotour_en.

The tour can also be followed on Snapchat, its own Dailymotion channel and YouTube as well as the tour's official app for iPhone, iPad, and Android.

Feel even more connected to the cyclists with GPS tracking

In addition to Twitter and social media, Tour de France fans will also be able to follow their favorite cyclists and gain even further insight into the race thanks to GPS tracking technology.

A GPS tracking device will be fitted to each cyclist's bike, which will communicate information with other riders' own devices and to their team cars. Information on the rider's current speed, position, weather conditions and more will then be made available to fans via the Dimension Data website, after being analyzed by a digital analytics platform.
