You all must be aware of the recent incident in Seoul on Halloween night. At least 154 people were reported to have died on a tragic night. The authorities declared national mourning on the following day and an investigation is underway. No one knew the festivities would escalate into chaos, with photos and videos on social media showing huge crowds crammed into a narrow alley.

Eyewitnesses described partygoers being packed so tightly together that it was difficult to move around or even breathe. The ambulance reached the destination and several people were giving CPR and pressing chests.

A heart attack, also known as myocardial infarction in medicine, is a life-threatening medical emergency. Time has always been a deciding factor in a heart attack, even though medical research has developed the most cutting-edge methods to revive a struggling heart. Since a heart attack is a muscle crisis, the longer you wait to seek medical attention, the greater the likelihood that your muscles will sustain damage or perhaps die.

Dr Sanjeev Gera, Director, and HOD, Cardiology, Fortis Hospital Noida, said that when a patient experiences heart attack symptoms, such as chest pain, breathlessness, sweating, palpitations, or shortness of breath, as well as the feeling of air hunger accompanied by profuse sweating and cold sweats, he should get an ECG within an hour or as soon as possible.

Therefore, the first hour following the onset of symptoms is known as the Golden Hour and if the person is immediately able to open up that artery during this golden hour, the heart muscle can be spared. So, doctors refer to time as a muscle in several languages. Time is of the essence and can reverse the heart attack.
