Natalie Portman is all set to make her comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 39-year-old actress was seen on the sets of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder after paparazzi and fans spotted the actress filming the movie in Australia.
Portman will be reprising the role of Jane Foster, a scientist, which she first played in 2011 movie Thor and in 2013's Thor: The Dark World. The last Thor movie that came out in 2017 was also directed by Academy Award winning director Waititi. The New Zealander is once again collaborating with the MCU and Chris Hemsworth for the fourth Thor movie.
Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson will also be coming back as Valkyrie. It is also reported that Portman’s character will also wield the Mjolnir, Thor’s magic hammer, and become the Mighty Thor. Unlike her earlier role in the first two Thor movies, this time Portman would be asserting her superhero powers and not just be Thor’s love interest. However, Portman not being an Asgardian and still managing to wield the hammer is an achievemnet in itself.
Meanwhile, over the course of several Marvel movies, Hemsworth as Thor has only gone above and beyond to prove that he is one of the most powerful superheroes who can wield the Mjolnir. However, inAvengers: Endgame,we saw Captain America played by Chris Evans wielding the Mjolnir. Since it was first announced in 2019, Marvel Studios have remained quite mum on the project and understandably so, considering that it will not hit theaters until 2022.
The pictures that have surfaced on the internet show Portman flexing her muscles that has certainly got fans talking. One of the tweets expressed a exclaiming reaction to Portman’s arms as they further wrote that they love the new twist and are all ready to see what is to come.
Meanwhile, fans have already been rooting for Chris’ bulging biceps.
The movie will Christian Bale playing the villain.
