Their losing out on a Grammy Award this years saddened BTS’s fanbase all over the world, but the K-pop band did not disappoint with their first ever solo performance at music’s biggest night of the year. Performing from Seoul, BTS took their performance to another level, literally, by performing from atop a skyscraper in Seoul, South Korea.
Dynamite was nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and lost out to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s ‘Rain on Me’ when the award was announced in the Grammys Premiere ceremony. Heartbroken ARMYs stayed tuned to their performance in the main awards ceremony, which the band could not physically attend due to the pandemic.
But their cheerful performance more than made up for it, as fans trended #SetTheNightAlightBTS in anticipation of the performance. Main vocalist Jeon Jungkook kicked off the song in a floral set-up and then moved to join the rest of the band members RM, Jin, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Suga in a recreated the Grammys stage in Seoul.
But soon they were taking their performance higher, literally, as they climbed up the stairs to the rooftop, where a dazzling helipad waited for the final crescendo of their performance. According to fans on Twitter, the building is the Parc1 Tower in Yeouido, Seoul. You also get a glimpse of the Seoul skyline as they perform.

This year was BTS’ second Grammy nomination, but the first for their music (the group was nominated for best recording package in 2019, an award presented for the visual look of an album.) A win tonight would have been a historic first for the global phenomenon.
