Abhay’s cousin, actress Esha Deol Takhtani, also marked his birthday with a heartfelt note on social media. Esha took to her official Instagram handle and shared a throwback picture with Abhay that is giving major cousin goals. The photo dates back to their Californian vacation in 2018. Both Esha and Abhay are seen giving goofy expressions as they pose for the camera. The sweet candid snap has the cousins dressed down in their casuals.

Abhay entered the world of cinema in 2005 with Imtiaz Ali's Socha Na Tha. He is vociferous in his support for parallel cinema in India and is noted for his portrayal of complex characters on screen. His most praised performances came in films such as Manorama Six Feet Under (2007), Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008). Anurag Kashyap's black comedy Dev.Dgave his breakthrough role in 2009. Abhay mostly workedin independent films early, but that changed when he starred in Zoya Akhtar'sfilm Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in 2011.
