Mumbai: After watching 'Bajirao Mastani', actor Anil Kapoor was compelled to compare young and dashing actor Ranveer Singh to Hollywood star Russell Crowe's character from the 2000 historical drama film 'Gladiator'.

"India's answer to @russellcrowe from 'Gladiator' @RanveerOfficial," Anil tweeted on Tuesday.

Ranveer, who has shared screen space with the "Welcome" actor in Zoya Akhtar's 'Dil Dhadakne Do', thanked the senior actor.

"Thanks AK! Was hoping I could make you proud. Great seeing you last night... Congrats on winning the award for DDD!," the 30-year-old tweeted.

Anil on Monday won the Stardust Award for Best Supporting Actor - Male for 'Dil Dhadakne Do', in which he played father to Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra.
