Chennai: Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan on Friday felicitated his long-time friend and popular lyricist Vairamuthu for his seventh National award win which he had bagged for last year's Tamil drama Dharmadurai.

"I felicitate my friend Vairamuthu for winning his 8th National award for lyrics. A record. Text in English so all Indians know," Haasan tweeted on Friday.

Even though this is Vairamuthu's seventh National award win, Haasan wrote he predicted eighth.

"Vairamuthu whispered on stage as I felicitated him. This is my 8th. He meant my praise. I counted 1 more. 7 is the number. Maybe I predicted 8th," he added.

Vairamuthu won the award this year for the song Entha Pakkam.

Also the recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, the veteran lyricist was felicitated at the launch of Bharathi Rajaa International Institute of Cinema here.
