Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma is all set for his digital debut on Netflix, the streaming giant announced on Wednesday at a grand event. Kapil, who is currently on paternity leave to be with his wife Ginni Chatrath after she delivered their second baby, will most likely headline a sketch comedy series or a chat show on the OTT platform. There are also speculations that his own show, The Kapil Sharma Show, which went off-air after the comedian took a break for the birth of his second child, will reportedly be shifting to Netflix. Though it is unclear whether Kapil’s project with Netflix is a comedy special or film, it will premiere on the platform in 2021.
Earlier, talking about his association with Netflix, Kapil had said, “2020 has been a bumpy ride for everyone around the world and my motive is to make people forget their worries and welcome this new year with love, laughter and positivity. I always wanted to be on Netflix but I didn’t have their number (laughs).”
Kapil had also said the project was close to his heart. “I cannot wait to share more details with my fans soon.”
Meanwhile, Karan Johar’s web production ‘The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’ is returning for its second season on Netflix. The series follows Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Khan and Neelam Kothari Soni’s lives as wives of Bollywood actors and moving in the circles of Hindi cinema stars. The eight-part series gives viewers an inside look into the lives of these four women. The show also had special appearances of several stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
