Netflix Announces Second Seasons of Delhi Crime, Masaba Masaba, Mismatched, Jamtara, Kota Factory

Netflix has announced the second seasons of its popular shows including Emmy-winning crime drama Delhi Crime, Masaba Masaba, and Mismatched.

Netflix announced the second seasons of its critically-acclaimed shows Delhi Crime and Jamtara in a grand virtual event on Wednesday. The streaming giant also revealed that Masaba Masaba, Mismatched, and Kota Factory have also been renewed for second seasons. The event, titled ‘What’s Next India’, saw some of the most celebrated storytellers and stars including Karan Johar, Imtiaz Ali, Raveena Tandon, Amala Paul, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ashvini Yardi, among others, in attendance.

Delhi Crime, starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal and Rajesh Tailang, is a seven-part Netflix Original Series created by Richie Mehta. It is a police procedural show, based on the 2012 Delhi gangrape case. It is the first Indian programme to have won an international Emmy. At the 48th International Emmy Awards, Delhi Crime was awarded the ‘Best Drama’.

Masaba Masaba is a semi-fictional story based on the life of the designer as she strives to make a mark in the fashion industry. Masaba’s real mother Neena Gupta plays her reel mother, who becomes her unexpected inspiration in the process. Masaba Masaba also features the designer’s rumoured boyfriend, actor Satyadeep Mishra as her onscreen estranged husband - IRL, Masaba was married to filmmaker Madhu Mantena. Masaba Masaba briefly focusses on different facets of the designer’s life including plagiarism and the issue of first copies in the fashion industry. It also stars Pooja Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam and Rytasha Rathore in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Mismatched features Prajakta Koli AKA Mostlysane and Ludo actor Rohit Saraf in the lead roles. The series also features Rannvijay Singha and Vidya Malavade in key roles. The plot of Mismatched on Netflix revolves around two people who are a romantic ‘Mismatch’ for each other. They are on a journey of building an app and handling their friends, bullies and a snooty professor.

Jamtara, on the other hand, is a fictionalised true-crime series. Directed by Soumendra Padhi and inspired by true incidents, Jamtara tells the story of young, ambitious and volatile people. Sunny and Rocky, along with their friends, quietly run a successful phishing scam from the small village of Jamtara. The village gets into the spotlight when a news report about the scam surfaces, making everyone want to be part of the game.
