In the fourth edition of News18 Movies Awards in association with United Colours of Benetton, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our readers decide the outcome.

From small-budget gems to big Bollywood blockbusters, some of the best films in the recent years hit the theatres in 2016. It was a year that saw a transition of sorts with the cinephiles accepting genuine performances than just make-believe. Despite a few dreadful misfires, viewers found Bollywood films/performances spanning across crucial issues – drug abuse, mental illness, distorted gender expectations, a dysfunctional family, etc - that were worth bringing to the fore.

In the fourth edition of News18 Movies Awards in association with United Colours of Benetton, we select nominees in various popular categories and allow our readers decide the outcome.

Take our poll here to vote and choose your favourite singer (female) of 2016.

Kaun Tujhe: Palak Muchhal

Singer Palak Muchhal is quite evidently on a roll. Her song Kaun Tujhe from MS Dhoni: The Untold Story not only got several takers, but also earned her adulation from prominent names from the industry.

Love you Zindagi: Jasleen R

If we loved the moments in the song, then we all also fell in love with the singer. The soothing number by Jasleen was enough to make anyone 'love zindagi'.

Da Da Dasse: Kanika Kapoor

The popular ‘Baby Doll’ singer wowed her fans by showing a totally different aspect of her singing. With Da Da she proved there is no way anyone can typecast her as an item song singer.

Gilhariyan: Jonita Gandhi

Even though it was a song which was high on mischief, singer Jonita’s vocals made it so easy on ears. If the song celebrated Geeta’s freedom from strict dad, it also celebrated Jonita’s potential.

Jag Ghoomeya: Neha Bhasin

While we loved the male version of the song by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the female version by Neha Bhasin too got an instant liking from the viewers.
