Bollywood has been successful in imparting the message with movies that explain love can reach beyond age differences.

Agreed, love with all its ups and downs offers multiple ideas to filmmakers. Which is precisely why filmmakers continue to cash in on love stories to set the cash registers ringing at the box office. But capturing love in the most relatable and appropriate manner isn't easy. And it only gets more difficult when the message to send out to the viewers is about how love transcends age differences.

Interestingly, Bollywood has been successful in imparting the message with movies that explain love can reach beyond age differences.

Life in a... Metro

Life in a... Metro revolves around the stories of a few couples whose lives are disoriented. This multi-starrer stood out from the crowd because of the mini story about the love between an old couple. 'Amol' (Dharmendra), after 40 long years reunites with his first love, Shivani (Nafisa Ali). Watching them spend the last years of their lives and going head over heels in love with each other is mesmerising. Not many films have captured this unconventional side of love where age is not considered as a barrier in love.

Nishabd

Nishabd is a very powerful movie that revolves around a man (Amitabh Bachchan), who has been married for 27 years but falls in love with his 18-year-old daughter's friend. This creates problems in his marriage. A man in his sixties falling for a teenager is what you call 'breaking the mainstream'. The passion and intensity of his love will leave you speechless or rather 'Nishabd'.

Cheeni Kum

With its unpredictable and extraordinary take on love, Cheeni Kum is about an old chef (Amitabh Bachchan) and a middle-aged woman (Tabu). The woman's father (Paresh Rawal) is against his daughter's relationship because the man she loves is older than her father himself. That is where the society gets judgemental. But, thanks to movies like this that force the viewers to broaden their horizons.

Dil Chahta Hai

Setting an example of friendship that all of us want to absorb in our lives, the movie also reflects on another important angle. Yes, you are thinking it right! We are talking about how Akshaye Khanna's character falls in love with Dimple Kapadia's character, who is an older divorcee. He falls for her with all his heart and even decides to make her painting. His affection pays testimony to the fact that it is nothing abnormal about it and anybody can feel that way.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi

This quirky romantic comedy featured Boman Irani and Farah Khan as a middle-aged couple. This movie is special in the way that it showcases love between an older couple instead of younger ones which are quite easy to portray. Their cute lovey-dovey fights are relatable.

Baghban

Baghban as the name suggests is about the relationship between parents and children as the main plot but there is another view to the movie that speaks volumes about the undying love of husband and wife. Being in their old age, the couple has only each other's support. While they take care of each other in good and bad times, we see the unconditional love between the old couple. They experience the sadness of separation that enhances their love even more. Their love is an inspiration for all the couples out there to value their partner in life.
