Telugu actor Ravi Teja was on Friday quizzed by a Special Investigation Team as the probe into Tollywood's links with a drug scandal got bigger.

Ravi Teja, who is popularly called "Mass Maharaja", is the 9th and the biggest celebrity to be questioned by SIT in the case. His interrogation has gained more attention because his brother had been arrested in 2010 in a drug peddling case.

The Telugu film industry was hit by the scandal after the Telangana Excise department busted a major drug racket in Hyderabad earlier this month. Twelve artistes from Telugu Film industry were summoned by the Excise Department after their names were found in the mobile phones of arrested drug peddlers and with alleged kingpin Calvin Mascarenhas.

Actress Mumaith Khan, who is presently shooting the Telugu version of the show Big Boss, flew down from Lonavala on Thursday to appear before excise officials.

Till now, 20 alleged drug peddlers have been arrested, including a 33-year-old Dutch national who is seen as an important link in the case, and Ronson Joseph, popularly known as Ronnie, who has been manager to many popular Bollywood and Tollywood stars.

The SIT has already interrogated ace director Puri Jagannath, Bahubali 2 actor Subbaraju, and actors Charmee Kaur, Tarun and Navdeep.

The four member special investigation team of the excise department is questioning each celebrity on their alleged links to the arrested suspects and whether they are into drugs. The officials are even collecting hair, nail and blood samples for further examination.

All artistes who appeared before SIT have denied any links to the drug racket. The Excise department said more celebrities may be summoned in the coming days.
