Los Angeles: Ryan Phillippe suffered a broken leg, an injury that will most likely impact production on Shooter. On Monday, the actor, who stars as Bob Lee Swagger (the role originated by Mark Wahlberg in the 2007 film), shared the news on Twitter, noting that the "freak accident" did not take place on-set, but during a family outing.

"Hey, guys. I didn't injure myself doing a stunt or anywhere near the set of Shooter. I was the victim of a freak accident during a family outing on Sunday.

My leg is badly broken and required surgical attention, but I will make a full recovery, am in good hands, and will be back in action soon.

"Thank you for all the well wishes, support, and concern. Also special thanks to the paramedics and first responders who helped me at the scene and to the medical staff caring for me now. I will keep you updated on my progress," Phillippe wrote.

Shooter, which is set to return on Tuesday, is currently filming the ninth episode of its 10-episode second season.
