Kedarnath co-producer KriArj Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against director Abhishek Kapoor, alleging breach of contract. The film, which began shoot in June last year, was expected to be completed in four months but allegedly Abhishek’s unprofessional behaviour and mismanagement led to multiple production delays and stoppages.

An inside source from KriArj Entertainment, which is founded and headed by Prernaaa Arora, told News18.com, “Kedarnath is currently in court. The producers believed in his vision but they didn’t know he would do something like this to them. He (Abhishek) went to Kedarnath to start the film but suddenly told the team that he was not ready and the makers lost the dates of the cast.”

Kedarnath, backed by KriArj Entertainment, T-series and Ekta Kapoor, is one of Bollywood’s most talked about films as it also marks Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan’s film debut. The film will see Sara opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and is set against the backdrop of 2013 Uttarakhand floods.

The source further revealed that all financers on the film have suffered major losses because of Abhishek’s inefficient handling of the production. “Ekta Kapoor has invested over Rs 8 crore in the film, while T-series and KriArj have invested Rs 15 crore each. There’s too much at stake and he’s not ready to listen. He was supposed to complete the project in October, 2017 but it’s been 16 months. Who would want to make a film in 16 months? He cheated the producers," said the source.

The source also revealed that KriArj studio was unhappy that Abhishek announced the release date of Kedarnath without consulting them. The film is releasing on December 21, the same day as Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai’s Zero.
