In a setback to Salman Khan , the Supreme Court on Tuesday admitted Maharashtra Government’s appeal challenging the Bombay High Court’s verdict acquitting the actor in 2002 Hit & Run case.

The Maharashtra Government urged the court to put the hearing on fast track, but the SC bench headed by Justice Khehar refused to do so.

After a long-drawn legal battle, the Bombay High Court had acquitted the actor in the 2002 hit-and-run case. An SUV , which the police claimed was driven by the actor in an inebriated state, ran over people sleeping on the pavement , killing one person and injuring four others.
