Sunil Grover who had left The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) earlier this year is focusing on his live comedy shows more than the small screen. And as per sources, Sunil Grover has been getting a lot of good offers from various channels however the standup comedian wants to pick only special appearances and has supposedly doubled his fee from ₹7-8 Lakhs per show (which he charged for TKSS) to ₹13-14 Lakh per appearance.
Sunil Grover rose to fame while enacting Gutthi in Kapil Sharma’s Comedy Nights with Kapil. However, the hit comedian-duo landed in a mid-air scuffle when Kapil Sharma allegedly in a drunken state hit Sunil Grover, who was trying to keep Kapil away from fighting with someone else on the same flight. A few days later, later Sunil Grover walked out of Kapil Sharma’s show and even after the latter’s apologetic tweets, Grover didn’t make a return on TKSS.
The Kapil Sharma Show soon saw its TRPs dwindle and its followers have voiced frequently how they miss the onscreen chemistry and series of gags between Kapil and Sunil Grover. To add further to the shows decreasing popularity, Kapil Sharma has been reported unwell by its team on numerous occasions, one being when Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma were on the sets of The Kapil Sharma Show to promote their August 4 release Jab Harry Met Sejal, and the host cancelled his shoot on the grounds of poor health.
Amidst the reports that Sunil Grover has doubled his fee, Kapil Sharma’s ₹107-Crore contract with Sony TV hasn’t been renewed after April 2017 and his charges per show have also been reduced given the show has plunged from Top 10 to Number 14 as per BARC reports.
