Mumbai: Pakistani singer Adnan Sami has applied for Indian citizenship for a second time.
An earlier plea by the singer had been rejected by the Centre. The 43-year-old singer had last applied for an Indian citizenship 2 years ago.
Last month, Home Ministry had asked Law Ministry whether Sami could be granted citizenship. Law Ministry had clarified that the power to grant citizenship lies with the Home Ministry.
Adnan Sami had first arrived in India in 2001 and became a popular singer with his hit 'Lift Kara De'. The singer has been residing in Mumbai and has composed and sung for several Bollywood films in the past decade.
