There was something for everyone on Day 1 of the Weekender at Buddh Circuit, Greater Noida as artist from literary all genres put up acts that left the audience wanting for some more.
From Ganesh Talkies early psychadellic set to the last show of the night by Raghu Dixit and Nrityaurta- Saturday at the weekender was truly a happy one.
Early in the evening a relatively new group called the Barmer Boys got the audience groving to their rich Rajasthani folk tunes. The three boys from Rajasthan mesmerized one and all with foot tapping numbers. With their unique folk tunes, they truly stood out at the festival.
Meanwhile at another stage, metal junkies were seen head banging to Bhayanak Maut's performance. The act was absolutely sensational.
There was also the super talented band Pangea who played a colossal set.
Interestingly, Pangea and comedy collective All India Bakchod were performing around the same time on different arenas. Funny man and AIB member Tanmay Bhatt in fact asked everyone to 'clap for themselves to leave Pangea and watch their act instead'. "Shame on you!' said Khamba. The boys from Mumbai themselves said that they were far away from music but no one really seemed to care about good music when AIB was on stage making a everyone's stomach thanks to all the laughing.
For those who were not hopping from arena to another to listen to their favorite artistes, were seen near the activity area and food stalls. With so many activities planned for the festival goers- there was lots to do apart from listening to music.
There was also a band called Songhoy Blues performing at the weekender who had come all the way from Mali. Their act had Caribbean beats which made everyone dance along with them.
The final act of the day was presented by Raghu Dixit and Nritarutya and what a spectacular show it was! With 30 performers on stage dancing and playing live music, it was a captivating sight for the audience. Raghu Dixit and his choreographer wife Mayuri Upadhya but a spectacular production which was not only visually appealing but also culturally very rich. Dancers in colourful costumes took over the stage as Raghu Dixit and his band performed live for Delhi and suddenly the cold winter night became warm with energy and happiness.
On Sunday we are looking forward to the acts of Monica Doga, Amit Trivedi, Indian Ocean featuring Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt and Fossils.
