Pune-based Indian long-distance swimmer Rohan More swam across the Cook Strait between North and South Islands of New Zealand in eight hours and 37 minutes, becoming the first Asian and the youngest to complete it.

After waiting for a long time due to bad weather conditions, Rohan finally got a chance to swim on February 9.

For the first five hours the water was calm with the temperature around 19 degreee Celsius.

But as he progressed towards the South Island, the water temperature dropped suddenly by 4 degree due to currents from Antarctic water.

He started to shiver due to the sudden drop in temperature, but fought bravely to finish the task, becoming the ninth person in the world to swim it. Rohan had completed his first marathon swim at the age of 11.
