Steeplechase runner falls head-first in water at World Athletics Championships

Panamanian runner Rolanda Bell fell head-first into the water jump while taking in the 3000m steeplechase event at the World Athletics Championships 2015 in Beijing.

Panamanian runner Rolanda Bell fell head-first into the water jump while taking in the 3000m steeplechase event at the World Athletics Championships 2015 in Beijing, the Daily Mail reported.

While participating in the event, Bell misjudged the jump and landed head first in the water.

Bell finished 20 seconds behind Katerina Doseykina in last place.

Bell is ranked 104th in the world. The 3000 m steeplechase event has 28 barriers and 7 water jumps.

Tunisia's Habiba Ghribi won her heat in 9:24.38, the second fastest was German Gesa Felicitas Krause in 9:24.92 and Ethiopia's Hiwot Ayalew was third fastest in 9:25.55.

Bell later tweeted about the incident:

It translates as: "Thanks to Panama for all the support of our team this year . we will encourage and Yvette Alonso together in their skills here in Beijing!"
