In Maharashtra, full immunization coverage is lower than the 62% national average, at 58% overall. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) Coverage Evaluation Survey 2018, there are wide variances in immunization coverage across districts in Maharashtra, with some districts performing significantly better than others and some vaccines with a higher coverage rate than others.
To discuss this and spread awareness on immunisation, Aaditya Thackeray, Cabinet Minister (Environment and Tourism), Government of Maharashtra visited the BMC Worli Sea Face High School in Mumbai. The visit was followed by a panel discussion hosted by Vinaya Despande. The eminent speakers of the panel discussion were- Aaditya Thackeray, Dr.Sheela Jagtap, Asst.Health Officer, Public Health Department, MCGM and Dr.Vivek Pardeshi, Surveillance Medical Officer, WHO.
