New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), after a meeting on Monday, decided to form 'shadow cabinets' in all the three BJP-ruled (Municipal Corporations of Delhi) MCDs to 'check corruption'.

In order to work in a more structured manner to keep a check on MCDs, the AAP formed shadow cabinet in all three MCDs, the party said in a statement.

Shadow cabinets have been formed for 'health', 'garden and cleaning', 'roads and works', as well schools for north, east and south MCDs.

Particular focus will be to keep an eye on the funds disbursed by the AAP Government for payment of salaries of sanitation workers. Just a few days ago, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had released Rs 442.78 crore to the three MCDs after a delegation of safai karmacharis apprised him of their financial difficulties.

AAP government had given out figures to illustrate that it was paying the MCDs more than before, east and North MCDs got RS 287.72 crore and 808.77 crore in 2013-14 respectively while it received Rs 948 crore and Rs 1318 crore in 2016-17 respectively.

The first meeting of the 'shadow cabinet' will be held on Tuesday.
