New Delhi: In a dramatic late-night development, Sasikala's nephew and AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dinakaran, along with his aide Mallikarjuna, was arrested by Delhi Police in cash for symbol case.

Dinakaran was questioned by the Crime Branch for the fourth straight day on Tuesday.

He had come under scanner after the arrest of alleged middleman Sukesh Chandrasekar.

According to sources, Dinakaran's aide Janardhana is to be a witness in the case.

AIADMK general secretary TTV Dinakaran was under the assumption that Sukesh Chandrasekhar was a High Court judge who could help him influence Election Commission officials to win the party’s ‘two leaves’ symbol, Delhi Police sources told CNN-News18 on Monday.

Sources said that Dinakaran’s last phone conversation with Sukesh was 20 hours before his arrest on April 16. Sukesh had reportedly introduced himself to Dinakaran as a HC judge and offered to help him win the party symbol.

Dinakaran, who was appointed as deputy general secretary by Sasikala, has been isolated in his party amid moves to merge rival factions led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister EK Palaniswami and his predecessor O Panneerselvam.

A powerful section of the ruling AIADMK (Amma) recently revolted against the Sasikala-Dhinakaran leadership.

The development came after Panneerselvam, who is leading the rival faction, demanded ouster of Sasikala and Dinakaran as a condition for the merger.
