New Delhi: Mahatma Gandhi wanted Congress dissolved after Independence and Rahul Gandhi is doing a fine job of realising that, said BJP president Amit Shah in Rohtak on Wednesday.

Addressing a gathering, Shah said, "Gandhi ji ne kaha tha azadi ke turant baad Congress ko bikhar jana dena chahiye... khair wo Gandhi ne nhi kiya ab koi Gandhi kar rha hai" (Mahatma Gandhi had said that Congress should be disbanded after Independence. While that Gandhi couldn't do it, some other Gandhi is doing it now).

Extolling the BJP, Shah said with BJP coming to power the country has moved towards development.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party has done the task of liberating the country from the politics of dynasty and appeasement. Also, a political party which is based on principles can develop the country," Shah added.

Just a few days back, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani took potshots at Congress President Sonia Gandhi, predicting an end of Congress party in the country, owing to "Sonia Gandhi's love for her son".
