Kolkata: West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi on Wednesday hit back sharply against Mamata Banerjee refuting allegations that he insulted her and telling her ministers he needed no lessons on how to do his job. The governor added that it was wrong to say that "Raj Bhavan had become the office of the BJP or RSS".

"Regrets to say that this is an attempt to cover the lapses of the state government and divert the attention from the main issue of law and order. In fact, the allegations of the chief minister amount to insulting and humiliating the governor and his office," an official statement issued by Raj Bhavan read.

Governor Tripathi, in his statement, also claimed that he hadn't "uttered a single word to insult or threaten" the state Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. Tripathi also accused Mamata of "emotionally blackmailing" the people of the state, calling her allegations "baseless".

The Governor also suggested Mamata and her colleagues that instead of training guns on him, it is better that CM directed attention to maintaining peace, law and order in the state, without making any distinction on the basis of caste, creed and community.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday alleged that she was "severely humiliated" by the West Bengal Governor, KN Tripathi, adding that the Governor was instigated by BJP leaders.

Mamata had also said that she was "threatened" by the Governor who spoke like a "BJP block president", and she felt like quitting.
