Bhopal: Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s downfall in Madhya Pradesh has begun with Congress’ victories in Ater and Chitrakoot bypolls, former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has claimed that the ruling party’s farewell would begin from February 24.

The constituencies of Kolaras and Mungaoli are going to bypolls on February 24. Both seats, which are part of Shivpuri and Ashoknagar respectively, fall into the Scindia bastion.

Speaking to the media during a roadshow in Guna, the Member of Parliament tried to present a united face of the Congress, claiming it to be the first time that the party was wholly together. “We (the party leaders) are connected at heart and have pledged to uproot the BJP government,” he said.

Scindia has been hard at work trying to project himself as the party’s chief ministerial face ahead of the assembly polls later this year.

Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath also made allegations against the government and said “CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has betrayed the public. The government machinery was widely misused in the bypolls.”

Senior party leaders Kamal Nath, Suresh Pachauri, Kantilal Bhuria and party state in-charge Deepak Babaria, were led by Scindia as they began their roadshow from Badarvas in Shivpuri.

The purpose of the roadshow is to file the nomination papers of the party’s candidate from Kolaras, Mahendra Singh Yadav. The rally would then move to Ashoknagar to file the nomination papers for Brijendra Yadav.
