Kolkata: All may not be well within the Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. BJP MP Babul Supriyo took to Twitter on Monday and said that state party president Dilip Ghosh has asked him not to interfere in party’s organisational work at Asansol.

Asansol is Babul’s constituency and trouble began after BJP councilor Emmanuel Wheeler also known as Bapi (in Asansol) joined Trinamool Congress.

A party insider told News18 that Wheeler was unhappy with the district leadership and discussed the matter with Babul. “Some of the local leaders told us that Babul tried to put forward his view in this matter, which was not liked by many in the organizational level. Therefore our president has asked him not to interfere in party’s work,” the senior BJP leader said.

“Dilip Da (state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh) has told me that running the organisation is not the job of an MP or MLA. So I do not interfere in the organisation any more. You carry out your work. I was with you, I will be with you”, Babul’s tweet reads.

While hinting at Wheeler, he tweeted, “Let them leave the party. I could not meet his expectation. I wish I could have. I am sure he got some assurance from TMC. I wish him all the best.”

While claiming that he is no longer a new entrant in this political world, his another tweet reads, “I never interfere and do what my senior told me. I know what to say and when to say and where to say. Please don’t read too much into this.”

BJP, state General Secretary, Sayantan Basu, said, “Media is unnecessary creating a controversy. There is nothing to read between the lines here. Everybody knows that our party office bearers and organisational committees look after the organisation.”
