Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has not made a public appearance in the last few days, leading to speculation about whether she is unwell.
Amid the speculations, Jayalalithaa's arch rival, the DMK, have been mounting pressure on the AIADMK chief over the issue. The DMK has demanded that the state government should go on record about whether Jaya has any health problems.
This comes a week after the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister skipped an Iftar party citing illness.
In a statement, DMK chief M Karunanidhi had alleged that there was lack of transparency in the state with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa unable to perform her duties owing to her illness.
Advising his arch rival to take rest, the DMK patriarch had said, "You please take rest and take care of your health. A chief minister of state should be transparent."
