Kerala: Ramesh Chennithala finally becomes a minister
The portfolio has not yet been officially announced though according to sources he takes over Home department.

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala has sworn into the Oommen Chandy Cabinet on Wednesday around 11.20 am. Governor Nikhil Kumar administered the oath of office at a function in Rajbhavan.

The portfolio has not yet been officially announced though according to sources he takes over Home department. Chief minister Oommen Chandy, ministers of his Cabinet, senior party leaders, UDF leaders, hundreds of Congress workers and deputy leader of Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan were present for the swearing-in ceremony.

The 57-year-old leader was serving as the KPCC president from 2005. He became the youngest minister in the K Karunakaran Cabinet as minister for rural development in 1986 at the age of 30.

He is a three-time legislator and a four-time Lok Sabha member. Ramesh entry into the state Cabinet was facilitated after the direction from the Congress high command. The move is aimed at stopping the in-fighting in the state unit of the Congress ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Now discussions are on related to the portfolio to be given to Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan the present Home minister. Sources in the Congress said that he may retain vigilance and will also get Transport.
