Solar panel scam: Kerala HC asks government to list steps taken to recover money
The Kerala High Court asks the state government about the progress made in the solar scam case.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday criticised the state government in the solar panel scam case asking the government about the steps being taking to recover the money amassed by the accused.

Hearing the bail plea of one of the accused, Shalu Menon, the court asked about the progress of the investigating team regarding the complaint filed by MK Kuruvilla against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

The High Court had on Monday rejected the bail application of Tenny Joppan, former personal staff of the Chief Minister, arrested in connection with solar panel scam case.

The court had accepted the submission of the Advocate General that the petitioner, if released on bail, would tamper with the evidence since he was attached to the Chief Minister and his personal assistants.

The solar scam that has been rocking the state for the last few weeks pertains to defrauding a large number of people to the tune of crores of rupees by Saritha Nair and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan by offering solar energy solutions.

A duped investor had claimed he put his money in a fraudulent solar scheme after being reassured about the project in the presence of Chandy. Team Solar partners Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan, now in police custody, had allegedly duped many investors using their political connections.
