Kumari Selja blames Bhupinder Singh Hooda for Congress's defeat, says Haryana was a one man show
Selja said, "Priyanka comes to the forefront or not it's her own decision."

New Delhi: A day after the party's massive and humiliating drubbing in Assembly elections 2014, senior Congress leader Kumari Selja blamed former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the defeat.

After being reduced to almost a regional party status in the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress was trying to regain its foothold in the states. Fighting anti-incumbency and allegations of corruption, the Congress ended a distant third in both Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections.

"I wish Congress leaders had heard our views. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the major factor why we lost in this manner. It was a one man show. He did not care about anyone at all," Selja said.

"This election shows that politics cannot be about just one regional leader you have to take other state leaders with you. I don't think Robert Vadra's land dealing in Haryana had any impact," she said.

On the demands of party workers to bring Priyanka Gandhi in the political arena, Selja said, "Priyanka comes to the forefront or not it's her own decision."
