Mangalore: A BJP activist was expelled from the party for six years for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In a statement, the district BJP unit announced that Srikar Prabhu, executive committee member of Karnataka BJP had been expelled on their recommendation.

The expulsion would be come into effect immediately as per the orders of state BJP president Prahlad Joshi, it said.

The party had also removed noted advocate Padma Prasad Hegde from his post as the chief of BJP National Security Cell for anti-party activities. He had also been relieved from all responsibilities of the party, the release said.

Reacting to the development Sreekar Prabhu said he was unaware of his expulsion since he had not got any notice from the party national president. Hegde said he was never a member of the BJP and the party had only asked him to take responsibility of its National Security Cell.
