In a huge show of strength, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi walked up to the Patiala House Court along with other party stalwarts for the hearing in the National Herald case. The hearing ended in merely three minutes with Sonia, Rahul and 3 other party leaders getting bail. he development also gave the party a huge opportunity to hit out at the Central government for allegedly targeting them by using Subramanian Swamy.

In a joint press conference with Rahul and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia claimed that they are fully aware of the intentions behind the case being filed against them.

"I am totally aware of the intention of the people behind the case. These people have been trying for long to target us. They will not succeed. Today we did what any law-abiding citizen should do. The laws applies to everyone. I have no doubt that the truth will come out," she said.

Rahul, too, reiterated what he has been saying in the past and termed the allegations as political vendetta by the Central government. "Narendra Modi levels false allegations and thinks that the Opposition will bow down, I and Congress will not do so," he said.

Standing firm with the other leaders, Manmohan Singh said Congress will give a tough fight to the Central government. "Congress party is united in what Sonia and Rahul have said, we will give a determined fight. We stand for cetain ideas and ideals, no one can change that," he said.
