BJP's Dr Dharam Singh Saini has won Nakur seat by over 94,000 votes.

The main candidates from Nakur were Naveen Choudhary (BSP), Imran Masood (INC), Ramkumar (RLD) and Dharam Singh Saini (BJP)

Nakur is a Muslim-dominated constituency. Congress, Imran Masood earned some infamy for his comment against PM Narendra Modi in 2014 Lok Sabha poll. In 2012, he lost by merely 5,000 votes to Dharam Singh Saini of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), who is now a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate

In the 2012 Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party won this constituency by a narrow margin of 4,564 votes. Dharam Singh Saini, the winning candidate, got 89,187 votes. The runner-up was Imran Masood of Congress who got 84,623 votes. The voter turnout was 77.21%

The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh had in 2012 won 224 seats spread across 75 districts. It has tied-up with Congress this time in the contest against Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

Elections to 403 seats of Uttar Pradesh were held over 7 phases from February 4 to March 8.

Exit polls had predicted the BJP emerging first in Uttar Pradesh with the Samajwadi Party- Congress alliance emerging second and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party emerging a distant third.
