JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav sides with Opposition in Rajya Sabha
JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, who has been reportedly uneasy since his party aligned with the BJP to form a government in Bihar, on Tuesday sided with the opposition parties in an attempt to corner the government over the alleged printing of new 500 rupee notes in different sizes. He showed enlarged copies of differently sized 500 rupee notes. "I can give signed copies" of the notes, he said as treasury benches countered his contention which was earlier raised by Kapil Sibal of the Congress.
Rajya Sabha proceedings:
Opposition Congress, supported by TMC and JD(U), on Tuesday forced four adjournments of the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha over what it called as "biggest scam of this century" in the printing of two different kinds of 500 and 1000 rupee notes.
Slogan-shouting Congress members trooped into the well even as Leader of the House and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the opposition party has been raising "frivolous" issues without giving notices to stall Zero Hour proceedings.
After meeting Congress Lok Sabha MPs in the Parliament, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala says, party will meet all challenges like it has done in 2004 and will emerge victorious in 2019.
