Samrala(Pb): Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday held Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the problems being faced by common people due to demonetisation.
"Farmers, traders, and small retailers are compelled to stand in long queues outside the banks due to demonetisation which has immensely damaged their business," he said while addressing a rally here.
On Modi's comments that demonetisation will give "sleepless nights" to hoarders of black money, while common people will live in peace, Kejriwal said the move has
"Does the Prime Minister think that farmers, retailers, daily wagers and common people standing outside banks are corrupt? He said in order to eliminate corruption, corrupt
people should be targeted.
"Modi is busy in waiving off the loans of billionaires which includes Vijay Malaya whose loan of Rs 1,200 crore has been waived off," he alleged.
Kejriwal accused the SAD and Congress of being "hand in glove to loot the people of Punjab in turns". "That is why, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh did not take action against the Badals during his tenure as the Chief Minister and now Badal has also not taken any action in the corruption case of against him in the last 10 years," the AAP national convener alleged.
Claiming that he has revealed the Swiss Bank account details of Parneet Kaur, Raninder Singh (Amarinder's son), Kejriwal asked, "How is it possible that Modi and Parkash
Singh Badal are unaware of these accounts."
Asserting that the Siwss bank account details revealed by him are correct, he said, had it been wrong information, Amarinder would have filed a defamation case against him by now.
These accounts were opened in 2005 and lakhs of dollars, looted from Punjab, were deposited in these every month till 2007. Likewise, the Badals have unleashed large-scale corruption through sand, gravel, cable and transport mafia, he claimed.
Corrupt politicians will be taken to task after AAP forms government following the state polls next year, Kejriwal said. Addressing the rally, AAP's state convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi alleged, "The traditional political parties did not try to make people aware about their rights."
AAP MP Bhagwant Mann alleged that Punjab is at the "mercy of God" due to the "callousness" of the Badal government. Mann claimed that he has come to know that Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir and Majithia have sought more security for themselves from the Union Home Ministry and asked that if the trio has so much popularity and admiration in Punjab then what is the need for security.
