Gaya: Janata Dal United MLC Manorama Devi on Monday claimed that her son Rocky Kumar Yadav who has been accused of killing Aditya Sachdeva is not hiding and he should be punished if he is guilty of committing the crime. Devi said that her son, who is absconding, will present himself before the court.

"My son, if found guilty, should be punished. My son has not run away. He will present himself before the court. Rocky is being targeted because he is my son," said Devi.

Rocky allegedly shot dead 20-year-old Aditya Sachdeva on Saturday night in Gaya. He apparently wanted to teach Sachdeva a lesson for overtaking his vehicle.

Demanding a fair probe into the incident, she said, "I was not present at the location, let the police investigate."

Devi also gave contradicting statements by saying that though she is not in touch with her son but she somehow managed to convey the message that a case has been registered against him.

When questioned on her husband Bindi Yadav's statements, Devi said, "He is baffled and so he is making such weird statements."

A court in Gaya district has remanded Bindi Yadav and Devi's bodyguard Rajesh Kumar to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the murder. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM)- VI Sanjay Kumar Jha remanded them to judicial custody after the duo were produced in the court.

The two were being taken to Gaya Central Jail for interrogation, Magadh Zone DIG Saurabh Kumar said.

In a related development, four friends of the murdered youth travelling with him in car on Saturday night, recorded their statements under section 164 of CrPC (recording of confessions and statements).

Md. Nasir, Md. Kaifi, Ankit Kumar and Ayush Agrawal - all friends of Aditya Sachdeva, recorded their statements before the first-class judicial magistrate Rakesh Ranjan Singh narrating the sequence of events leading to their friend's murder by Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky Yadav.
