The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a ‘namoona’, stating that late Union minister Arun Jaitely had rightly termed the Kerala MP a ‘man without brains’. Adityanath was speaking at the Rising Uttar Pradesh event organised by News18 in Lucknow on Wednesday. Speaking about Gandhi’s recent statement on north Indians, Adityanath said, “Rahulji is brand of Congress. Whatever he says today, he does not remember tomorrow. That’s why late Jaitelyji had called him a man without brains. Such people don’t use their brains. I am amused that the family which was in power for five decades now has its member speaking ill against the people of UP. I don’t see any difference between north and south Indians. I have equal respect for all.”
He further said, “We don’t expect anything from people like Rahul Gandhi, such people are ‘namuna’. Such people defame the country whenever they go abroad. The family which got maximum respect from the people of the country has an heir like Rahul Gandhi which is unfortunate. Whenever the country is in trouble, he remembers his grandmother and goes to Italy. He is trying to divide the people of north and south,” said the CM said.
Regarding the ongoing farmers’ protest against the newly introduced farm laws, Adityanath said the movement cannot dent the prospects of the BJP in UP Assembly election in 2022. “Today, farmers are with the BJP as the Narendra Modi government has done maximum work for them in the last six years. There are some people using the farmers for their vested interests. This is not the first protest in the last six years. If you remember, it was Rohith Vemula, then various people had tried to question the Modi government on various issues. The Modi government has only become more favourite among people. Innocent farmers are being provoked by people who have nothing to do with farming. All the three agri laws have been brought for the betterment of the farmers.”
