Chennai: Namadhu MGR, the mouthpiece of the AIADMK controlled by the Sasikala faction has expressed doubts on whether the state govt will continue to be in power after November 26 because of the corruption charges against Chief minister Edapadi K Palaniswami and other members of his cabinet.

The article alleged that the Governor has “evidence” against CM Palaniswami, his deputy O Panneerselvam and 23 other ministers and flashbacked to 1976 when a DMK government was dissolved by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. Referring to the appointment of senior IAS officers Somanathan as Rajagopal as advisors to the governor it said it was similar to what happened then.

The timing of this article is significant as a senior member and an MP from the merged EPS-OPS faction has taken to social media hinting that not all is well within. "Three months over after EPS and OPS factions merged...months have passed...what about hearts?" said V Maitreyan on his Facebook post.

Fisheries Minister, Jayakumar however denied of a rift within the merged faction. "Party affairs should not be discussed on social media. We are working as a united AIADMK," he added.

However, sources from the merged faction claimed the merger was 'forced' and that it was done with the help of the top brass of the BJP. A few seniors did not want the merger to happen and after the factions merged, the same leaders expressed their dissent, a source added.

The rival TTV faction, too, had claimed that the merged faction is intact because of their hunger for power and together because of their fear of cases against them.
