Kerala solar scam: Human rights body asks LDF to call off siege
The indefinite siege was announced as part of the LDF's agitation against the Chief Minister in the solar scam.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has asked Left Democratic Front (LDF) to back off from their plan to lay an indefinite siege to the Cliff House, Official residence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy from December 9.

The indefinite siege was announced as part of their agitation against the Chief Minister in the solar scam. Justice JB Koshy, Chairman of the state Human Rights commission said that the direction was issued considering the freedom of movement of the people and the huge amounts that need to be spend on additional security.

The movement of the eight ministers and the residents near the Cliff House will be affected by the siege. It is unconstitutional and can warrant a punishment of imprisonment and fine.

He gave this direction in a complaint filed by a resident of Neyyatinkara. If the LDF convener has any objections he can file by December 9 and the case will be considered on December 11.

This will be the second round of agitations demanding Chief Minister Oommen chandy's resignation in the solar scam. In August, the LDF workers had laid siege to the Secretariat.
