New Delhi: The BJP seem to have worked out the seat-sharing issue with the Lok Jan Shakti party in Bihar and an announcement for the same is expected on Saturday.

Sources say that the LJP will get 5 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar and one seat in either Uttar Pradesh or Jharkahnd and one Rajya Sabha seat. The JDU and the BJP will get 17 seats each.

On Thursday, an hour-long meeting took place between top BJP leaders, including its president Amit Shah and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag after former ally and Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha joined the UPA.

LJP sources say the BJP's defeat in the five state polls have ignited a rethink in the party over its ties with the saffron party.

In his comments to media, Chirag has spoken about unease among farmers and youths, and had also tweeted about the ruling National Democratic Alliance passing through "trying times".

A delay in announcement about seat-sharing arrangement has caused unease within the LJP, which has often switched political camps ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

The LJP, sources said, wants a better deal than the BJP has offered it, more so after Kushwaha's exit from the alliance.

The LJP has been insisting that they should get seven seats, the same as they had contested in 2014, and should get seats in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, too.

The bone of contention has been a Rajya Sabha seat that the BJP had promised. It is reported that Paswan, an eight-time Lok Sabha member, wants to hand over his traditional constituency of Hajipur to his son and come to Parliament through the Rajya Sabha.
