Uchana Kalan: It is the clash of the titans in Haryana's Uchana Kalan Assembly constituency, the seat currently held by jailed Indian National Lok Dal chief Om Prakash Chautala.

While Chautala is barred from contesting elections following his conviction and 10-year-jail term in a teachers' recruitment scam, it is his grandson and the country's youngest MP Dushyant Chautala who is fighting the polls from this INLD stronghold.

Challenging the young Chautala is BJP's Prem Lata Singh. Although Singh is a lesser known name as compared to the Hisar MP, it is going to be a really tough contest given the rivalry between the two clans.

Prem Lata Singh, is the wife of Birender Singh, a four-time MLA from Uchana whose traditional bastion was snatched away by OP Chautala in the 2009 Assembly elections.

Birender Singh is the former general secretary of Congress who recently jumped ship to join the BJP following his differences with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Spearheading his wife's campaign, Singh is now making sure that the Chautalas are wiped off from Uchana Kalan.

Although, the Chautalas have an edge in the constituency given that Dushyant is the Hisar MP and Uchana Kalan Assembly constituency comes under Hisar. But that has not stopped the BJP candidate from slugging it out at the constituency held previously by her husband, now that it has become a prestige issue for them.

While it is a close fight between the INLD and the BJP, the Congress has fielded Bhar Singh Chatter. BJP's erstwhile ally Haryana Janhit Congress and Samajwadi Party too have fielded their candidates.
