New Delhi: The United Public Service Commission row is likely to gain more momentum with Congress's student wing, National Students Union of India scheduled to hold hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Sunday.

As many as 20 protesting students were arrested on Saturday for blocking roads in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, the hub of UPSC coaching centres. Police even resorted to lathicharge.

Meanwhile, the aspirants have rejected government's attempt to buy time. They demand scrapping of the current format of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). IAS aspirants have alleged that the test is discriminatory against Hindi speakers.

A delegation of UPSC aspirants met Rashtriya Swaya, Sevak Sangh officials and kept before them their demands. The government was forced to make a statement in Parliament on Saturday saying that the issue would be resolved in a week. This statement was the result of the high level committee report that was submitted.
