'We Are the Single Largest Party, Governor Should Dissolve Assembly and Invite Us': Tejashwi Petitions Bihar Governor

Patna: Emboldened by the ‘Karnataka model’, RJD leader Lalu Prasad's son and leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav on Friday met Governor Satya Pal Malik and staked claim to form the government claiming many members of the ruling Janata Dal (United) were in touch with him.

Tejashwi Yadav held a meeting of the RJD legislature party at his residence and then marched to Raj Bhawan with Mahagathbandhan allies Congress and Hindustani Awami Morcha.

After meeting Governor, the RJD leader said, “We are the single largest party in the Assembly with 80 seats. Our alliance has the support of 111 MLAs and many others from the ruling alliance are in touch with us. Now, the Governor should dissolve Assembly and invite us to form the government. We will prove majority on the floor of the House.”

Tejashwi cited Supreme Court’s order to hold floor test on Saturday in Karnataka as a victory for Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance and alleged BJP of murdering democracy everywhere in the country.

Tejashwi vowed to continue the fight against Nitish Kumar in people’s court if justice was not delivered by constitutional authorities.

The RJD supported Congress’ countrywide ‘save the democracy’ protest and accused the central government of pressurising constitutional authorities like Governors to act as per its will.

Earlier he tweeted, “Country should be run from Delhi through “Constitution” not from Nagpur through “Bunch of thoughts”. Let’s hit the streets to save democracy.”
