Helping Struggling Addicts is Gratifying, Says Boca Recovery Center’s CEO Ryan Montgomery
Ryan is now the CEO of the Boca Recovery Center in Boca Raton, Florida, and he spends his days working around the clock to give struggling addicts the help and understanding they need.

Sometimes you need to hit rock bottom before you realize how far you’ve fallen, and it’s only once you realize you’re locked up can you break out of prison. Just ask a former addict, Ryan Montgomery.

Ryan knows all about the hell and horror of addiction first-hand. It cost him his freedom and nearly cost him his life. Fortunately, he was one of the lucky ones who managed to turn his life around. Yet that wasn’t enough for the 26-year-old. He also wanted to help fellow addicts and show them that there is such a thing as a second chance and a new beginning.

Ryan is now the CEO of the Boca Recovery Center in Boca Raton, Florida, and he spends his days working around the clock to give struggling addicts the help and understanding they need. It’s a tough job, but being an addict is even tougher. And as Ryan’s story proves, no-one makes a conscious decision to become an addict; it happens without you even realizing.

From a young age, Ryan’s first love was computers. As a ten-year-old, he was already making a name for himself in hacking communities. His skill was such that he became notable for creating techniques that were used for black-hat marketing and manipulating computer systems.

As he grew, Ryan became a proven master of software development, penetration testing (ethical hacking), internet marketing, and serial entrepreneurship.

Ryan fine-tuned his abilities to exploit the Affiliate Marketing field, where he did exceptionally well and was financially rewarded for his expertise. As a young man with a disposal income, Ryan lived the party lifestyle but ended up partying a little too hard. He developed a drug habit that spiraled out of control and cost him his liberty.

When in prison, Ryan worked hard to overcome his addictions and had the time to reflect on his life. He realized in the words of ex-heroin addict Russell Brand, “The mentality and behavior of drug addicts and alcoholics are wholly irrational until you understand that they are completely powerless over their addiction and unless they have structured help, they have no hope.”

With this in mind, he left prison as a new man - determined to help people just like himself get better and lead a rewarding and productive life. He co-founded Boca Recovery Center alongside Christopher Ferry. Once again, Ryan put his knowledge and knack for internet marketing and development knowledge to good use when it came to giving Boca a brand and an identity.

Today Boca is an established recovery center, and it is passionate about helping people overcome addiction and supporting them to rebuild their lives on a foundation of health and wellbeing.

Not a day goes by where Ryan isn’t grateful for being in the place he now finds himself. He knows it isn’t an easy task for any addict to get better and conquer their demons, but as someone who knows that the darkest hour comes just before the dawn, he remains resolute and focused on helping those who share his burden to get better and finally turn a corner.
