Capturing a perfect shot requires a lot of time as it tests the patience of every photographer. Not in every category, but when you are into wildlife photography, it is a challenging task. Animals and other creatures make their movements and clicking pictures of them is an art in itself. Today we tell you about one of the best photographers named Bhasmang Mehta who made his career in photography after working as an industrialist for 11 long years. Coming from a family of doctors, he was born in Ahmedabad and after his graduation in 1997, he joined his family’s pharmaceutical manufacturing business. However, he did not fit in the bill and in 2011, Mehta made his mind to get into wildlife photography.

It was in 2003 when he was on a trip with his wife, he discovered his talent in photography. During their travel, Bhasmang photographed around 35 rolls of cameras which left many of his friends and family members impressed. Photography which was his hobby back then became his full-time profession and today, he is the proud owner of ‘Wildlife Sojourns’, a photography company which he started along with is wife Zankhana. While speaking about his first click on wildlife, Bhasmang said, “It was in February 2001 at the Gir National Park in Gujarat. I saw a sub-adult female Lion which I captured in my camera. It was my very first photograph after which I fell in love with wildlife photography. It had been a surreal experience and is one of the most cherishing moments of my life.”

However, Bhasmang’s journey as a photographer had its own set of challenges. Speaking about the same, he said, “Quitting the family business was the most difficult task for me. In India, many people still consider that if you are not a doctor, engineer or a chartered account, then you are good for nothing. It was the most challenging and toughest part for me to switch my profession and start something on my own. But I am proud that I have been able to establish my own empire today. Thanks to my wife, my family and my near and dear ones.” Besides this, Bhasmang Mehta’s studio organizes several wildlife photography seminars which aim to give amateur photographers a proper understanding of wildlife photography.
