The fourth day of Australian Open 2022 comes to an end with multiple upsets. Andy Murray, Garbine Muguruza, Emma Raducanu, Grigor Dimitrov were all shown the door on Thursday. Daniil Medvedev, one of the contenders of this year’s title showed his class as he beat home favourite Nick Kyrgios. Misfiring Stefanos Tsitsipas survived a thorough examination by former world number one junior Sebastian Baez before taking his place in the third round of the Australian Open.

Daniil Medvedev beats Nick Kyrgios 7-6(1), 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the third round.
US Open champion Emma Raducanu was knocked out after a 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 loss to Danka Kovinic. That’s make her the fourth seed to fall on the day.
Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime had to dip deep to make the third round at the Australian Open as he beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 7-6(5), 7-6(4).
Grigor Dimitrov and Andy Murray have both been knocked out by unlikely opponents.
Dimitrov lost 4-6, 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-7(2) to Frenchman Benoit Paire while Andy Murray lost to qualifier Taro Daniel 4-6, 4-6, 4-6.

13th seed Argentine Diego Schwartzman was upset by local Christopher O’Connell, losing 6-7(6), 4-6, 4-6.
Marin Cilic advanced with a 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(6) win over Norbert Gombos.
Maxime Cassey also made it into the third round beating Tomas Machac 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(5).
French Open winner Iga Swiatek eased into the third round with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Rebecca Peterson.
31st seed Marketa Vondrousova beat Ludmilla Samsonova 6-2, 7-5.
Danielle Collins registered a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ana Konjuh while Sorana Cirstea advanced into the third round with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kristina Kucova.
Men’s fifth seed Andrey Rublev had no trouble in crushing Ricardas Berankis 6-4, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the third round.
Dan Evans received a walkover against Arthur Rinderknech while women’s sixth seed Anett Kontaveit was shocked 2-6, 4-6 by Clara Tauson.
Third seed Garbine Muguruza was stunned by Alize Cornet in the second round of the Australian Open. Cornet beat Muguruza 6-3, 6-3.

Garbine Muguruza, Anett Kontaveit and Diego Schwartzman were stunned in the second round while Andrey Rublev and Iga Swiatek cruised through. Marin Cilic also advanced in four sets.
In the women’s section, two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep is yet to take the court.
After wild-card entry Andy Murray beat Nikoloz Basilashvili in five sets to win a match at the Australian Open for the first time in five years, the personable Scotsman is aiming to make it two in three days. The five-time runner-up at Melbourne Park plays Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel.
Second-seeded Daniil Medvedev will have a big test against local hope Nick Kyrgios, although it’ll be on Rod Laver Arena rather the mercurial Australian’s preferred John Cain Arena. British qualifier Liam Broady lost to Kyrgios in the first round and he said “it’s the first time I’ve ever walked onto a tennis court and been booed . . . I thought they were going to do it for like 10 minutes (but) they did it for 2 1-2 hours, like every point. It was a zoo out there.”
The Medvedev-Kyrgios match is destined to draw plenty of viewers, including defending Australian Open women’s champion Naomi Osaka. After advancing to the third round, Osaka said watching Kyrgios seemed like a must: “Honestly, now I’m feeling like it’s not an Australian Open if you don’t watch a night match of Kyrgios on John Cain.”
In the women’s draw, second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu and 2020 finalist and third-seeded Garbiñe Muguruza are all in action on Day 4.
