Cristiano Ronaldo may be the best player in the world, but the sculptor who carved out his bronze bust in his hometown Madeira (Portugal) is not so by any stretch of the imagination.

In the honour of their Euro 2016 winning skipper — Cristiano Ronaldo — Madeira authorities renamed the local Airport in the name of the hometown hero. But Ronaldo's bronze statue stole all the headlines and created a social media frenzy for looking 'very different' to CR7.

In his birth town of Funchal, Ronaldo already has a museum and bronze statue in his honour.

Ronaldo, speaking at a naming ceremony attended by his family, Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Antonio Costa, and some 5,000 fans, added: "I didn't ask for this, but I'm not a hypocrite and I acknowledge that it honours me and that makes me happy."
