Meanwhile, Lovepreet Singh and Gurdeep Singh clinched bronze medals as India recorded their best ever tally of 10 medals in Weightlifting in the Commonwealth Games. While in the team events, India women’s hockey beat Canada 3-2 to register a place in the semifinals. While the men’s team crush Canada 8-0 in the group stage tie. In cricket, the Indian women outclassed Barbados with a 100-run win to seal a place in the semis.
Four India boxers also Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg), Mohammed Hussamudin (57kg) entered the semifinals events in their respective categories and assured medals for India.

Two Indian athletes Devendra Gahlot and Devender Kumar are in the action in the quest to get medals for India. However, it looks highly unlikely at the moment with they are far behind the top 3 throws – Gahlot (42.13), Kumar (45.10)

Tuesday turned out to be a historic day for India with their women’s fours final team securing the first-ever medal – and that too a gold. And then in the men’s table tennis team competition, India secured gold as well beating Singapore in the final. They were in the final of the badminton mixed team event as well but lost to Malaysia and had to remain contend with a silver. Nevertheless, the team had a dominating run till the final, blanking the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka before outclassing Australia.

India’s medal tally is now 12 which include five gold, four silver and three bronze. The gold medals have come from weightlifting (three), lawn bowls (one), table tennis (one).
On Wednesday, the sixth day of the Commonwealth Games, as many as five India boxers will be in action for their respective quarter-finals bout across various categories. A win for each would be enough to secure at least a bronze.
Apart from that, squash ace Saurav Ghosal will be playing in the men’s singles bronze medal match and three weightlifters will be in the medal hunt as well.
